This year like last year, we will learn in a relaxed friendly atmosphere through a combination of games, art, music, movement, and verbal and written work.
Este año como el anterior aprendaremos en un ambiente relajado y amistoso a traves de juegos, arte, música, movimiento y tareas orales y escritos.
For students to most enjoy their study of a second language, we want to echo how children learn language.
Que los estudiantes aprovechen lo más de sus estudios de una lengua nueva, queremos repetir como se aprende lengua natuaralmente.
Students will first learn to comprehend Spanish and then to produce it.
Inicialmente los alumnos aprenderan como entender el Español, luego como producirlo.
I have found your children ready and willing to enjoy and learn about the Spanish language and hispanic culture.
Me han presentandos sus hijos muy listos y disponibles a aprovechar y aprender la cultura y la lengua español.
Responsabilidades ~ Responsibilities
So that all children can get the most out of our Spanish lessons, students will have some responsibilities.
Para que todos tengan una experiencia amplia en las lecciones de Español, los estudiantes nececitan tener algunas responsabilidades.
I expect each person to do their best, to participate respectfully and to not interfere with the learning and teaching that is happening.
Le pido cada persona que haga su mejor, que participe respectuosamente, y que no haga nada que pueda interumpir con la aprender que pasa.
1. Doing homework guarantees that a student will enjoy and learn in class. This applies to 5 & 6 grades mostly.
Hacer la tarea guarantiza que el/la estudiante aproveche y aprenda en la clase. ... primeramente para los del quinto y sexto grados
Not doing homework guarantees that the student will not feel part of the group and his/her participation won't be wholehearted.
No hacer la tarea guarantiza que el/la estudiante no se sienta como parte del grupo y que su participacion no es bien estusiasta.
When students don't do their homework they can feel like distracting the group, the teacher, and certainly him/herself away from the lesson.
Cuando los estudiantes no hagan su tarea, ellos prefieren distraer los otros, el maestro, y si mismo afuera de la leccion.
But don't panic.... your 5th & 6th grade student will start getting Spanish homework (usually designed to take 15 minutes) toward the middle of October.
Pero no se preocupe, ... su estudiante del quinto o sexto grado van a recibir tarea (que debe tardar quince minutos) cerca de la mitad del octubre.
Please help your child have the time and space to do their school practice at home.
Por favor, le da ayuda a su hijo para que tenga tiempo y espacio hacer la tarea en casa.
Teachers will be in contact with parents whose children are regularly not doing their homework and after- or before-school times will be arranged so the work can be made up.
Los maestros van a comunicar con los padres quienes los hijos no hacen su tarea regularamente. Las citas antes de o despues del día normal de la escuela arreglarán para que los estudiantes lo cumplan.
Oportunidades ~ Opportunities
Parents are welcome to visit lessons and if you'd like to volunteer to assist my teaching that would be wonderful.

I already have a parent volunteer for 45 minutes Friday morning and this is fun for the children and a great help to me. There's room for more!

Also, Scholastic has a Spanish book club, Club Leo.

I'd give my eye teeth to have a parent volunteer to help with the process of compiling orders, so that students and the school, could have access to high quality, inexpensive bilingual and cultural media.

...Old and new favorites, and non fiction: science, biography, geography, poetry... translated into Spanish. Also wonderful latino literature. Even chapter books!

Club Ocho, enrichment for 6th graders, will be offered after school for 30 - 40 minutes on Thursdays starting sometime in October or November.
Club Ocho, lecciones aumentadas para los en sexto grado se les ofrecerán por 30 - 40 minutos los jueves en octubre o noviembre. Dejeme saber si tengas interes.
